Greenstone Inn, Piggy Backing!

The story this week has to do with “piggy backing.” The new building will be energy efficient, but what about the existing office? Well, they decided to fix that! They hooked up the office’s power and sewer lines to the Greenstone. The warm water from the giant washing machines will now feed into the new building’s heat recovery system. Electrical and networking systems will be shared as well. Above: They brought in a small Komatso excavator for this tight work. Here they are trenching from the office. Above: Trenching complete, the sewer and water get connected. Conduit for the electrical, telecommunications, networking, etc. gets back filled. Under the Portico the Komatso does a bit of final grading. A little pre-planning when they built the office placed all the connections in a handy spot. The electricians were busy stringing miles of wire. Plumbers and electricians do a tap dance around each other as they move along. Outside it was installing more windows, finishing the roofing, adding the last of the exterior sheathing, etc. to get ready for the siding. The crew is getting real tired of building this complex roof. On the outside, looking in — where it’s dry.
