Greenstone Inn: Battling the Blowhard!

This weeks weather battled our boys hard, stopping the roof framing several times. During those times, the crew busied themselves with small jobs on the leeward side of the building. Just how much rain did these storms dump on Newport? Here we have two tubs on the second floor (right). Above: The roof Monday afternoon. Above: The roof Tuesday morning. Above: The roof trusses impersonating dominos. The 70-80+ mph. winds sheared off scores of 16d nails and laid down the trusses like the famous wood blocks. With my palm tree bending before a steady 30 mph. wind the guys took care of a number of little jobs on the leeward side of the building. Left: Once the wind relented it was all hands topside as they re-set the trusses and brace the roof framing …again. As the Sun breaks returned on Friday, the on site safety inspector took a break. Lots of “high work” to do between blows. The Greenstone has survived its first Blowhard.
