Greenstone Inn: Forming and Floating the Flatwork

After stripping the wall and column forms, the crew adds the last of the below-slab infrastructure and then form up the slab. The re-bar net is visible along with a drainage pipe (at the column) in this view of the Elevator shaft area. Here we see a catch basin and some electrical conduit nestled in and under the forms with their screed boards on top. One of the scores of footing-to-slab re-bar connections. The team begins placing and screeding the mud. Placing and screeding is then followed by the Bull Float guy (above), some hand troweling (below) and edging (right). Lastly, our new floor gets a going over with the Power Trowel, and wallah! "Houston, Garage Central here, the Slab has landed!" Twelve weeks after the old foundations of the Viking's Cottages were ripped out of the ground, the sun sets on the new Greenstone Inn foundation — which is starting to look pretty solid!
