As they got the footing forms stripped off, they pushed an dirt ramp over the footings for material & machine access. After several form sections had gone up a well driller moved in to sink a tube for the elevator hydraulics. The Corvallis Drilling Co. sunk a 16" dia. shaft 34' down for the hydraulic cylinder; passing through several layers of sand, clay and gravel. They didn't hit any gushers though. With all the footings now stripped, they began their layout, with measuring and stretching layout strings to guide the wall placement. The two shots above show the constructing of the outside forms and the endless task of stringing and tying off a grid of rebar on the inside. Interior load bearing "pads" are dug, formed and the re-bar mats are placed. Still to come are the structural steel connectors anchoring the posts above. I call this shot "Ports & Bars" (in honor of our seafaring town). But here we get a glimpse of the thru-wall utility ports and the re-bar net in the walls. The elevator shaft/pit sits ready for concrete.
