Sunset Gold Contemplating Life's True Riches
As a young man making decisions about life's course I rejected gold's glitter (the shinny brass ring) in search of better treasure.
Later, after accepting the gift of peace with God through Christ, I came to treasure relationships and righteousness even more than gold. Pursuing beauty, goodness and peace; the true riches, the true off-shore wealth.
Today, when I stand by the sea and watch a golden sunset, I am caught up in the peace and beauty of this little divine gift. Here by the sea I get to look into God's piggy bank and recall the words of His Messiah, "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal." Mat. 6:19-20 Around here, sunset gold is worth more than all the off-shore vaults of precious treasures put together!
A word or two about riches "Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you." Oscar Wilde
"Every morning I get up and look through the Forbes list of the richest people in America. If I'm not there, I go to work." Robert Orben
Something to ponder. Can a telemarketer call the wrong number?
A disconnected oil pump sitting next to a church in Louisiana prompted this observation… Hey Church! Are you out of oil? Call 1-800 HOLY SPIRIT Today!
