Stone Groovin' on Wall Street

The US economy has been the bedrock of the world's economies for decades, and Wall Street was the quarry. Now, the greedy hearts of many financial players are as hard as stone quarried there. Yet there they are, floating above a river of false liquidity. Groovin on Greed under the watchful eye of the global economic elite.
This drawing was inspired by the song "Money" from Pink Floyd's album "The Dark Side of the Moon." The lyrics of this song say it better than I ever could:

MONEY, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay.
Money, it's a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I'll buy me a football team.

MONEY, get back.
I'm all right Jack, keep your hands off of my stack.
MONEY, it's a hit.
Don't give me that do goody good bullshit.
I'm in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear Jet.

MONEY, it's a crime.
Share it fairly, but don't take a slice of my pie.
MONEY, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise it's no surprise that they're
Giving none away.

Religious teachings worldwide (from Buddha to the Bible) exhort us that true wealth is not found in material abundance or societal influence. It comes from inner mastery of the desires which drive us all; we don't have to be part of our scene here. Controlled appetites lead to more inner peace (prosperity) and wealth of soul. It is said that "greed and fear drive Wall Street." Doesn't the wise man set his goals on "liberality" and "tranquility?" Stone was not meant to soar above, and false rivers eventually dry up; the divinely appointed natural order and flow will ultimately return — though, in ways which will no doubt surprise us all. This picture hangs on my wall as a reminder…
